Getting to North Cyprus from Edinburgh
Edinburgh is the Scottish airport with a connection towards Ercan, routing through a Turkish hub before the final leg to the island. That makes it the natural starting point for most of central Scotland for this trip.
There is also a direct service to Larnaca in the south, if you would rather have one flight and are content to travel north by road afterwards. What a long travel day actually means

A Scottish departure plus a connection in Türkiye plus the transfer from Ercan adds up. Most Edinburgh travellers arrive in Kyrenia in the evening, and a few arrive late in the evening. That is fine — but it has consequences worth planning around rather than discovering.
Check that your accommodation's reception is staffed for your arrival time, and tell us if it is late so we can make sure it is. Assume the hotel kitchen may have closed; eat properly at the connection rather than counting on dinner when you land, or let us arrange something. And do not plan anything for the following morning that requires an early start — you will not want it, and the first proper day of a holiday is a poor thing to spend tired.
None of this is a reason not to come. It is a reason to arrive knowing what to expect, which is most of what a good first evening needs.
When to go from Edinburgh
Scottish school holidays do not line up with the English ones. The summer break starts and finishes earlier, and the mid-term breaks fall on different weeks. That is genuinely useful here: it means Scottish families can often travel in weeks that are quiet and better priced on the island precisely because the rest of the UK is still at school.
